I have a lot of friends who are attending school to become teachers. I was asked by one specifically to do a post based on where teachers can shop for clothes that are affordable and cute.
I recommend thrift stores. I don’t necessarily mean Goodwill’s and places similar to that. I am referring to thrift stores where you can find blouses for 99 cents or 1 dollar. I have nothing against shopping at Goodwill’s but if you want more bags for your buck a traditional thrift store is the way to go. Goodwill’s provide more name brand items while the traditional thrift stores provide more style.
Shopping in a thrift store can be frustrating if you’ve never shopped in one before. GO IN WITH A PLAN. If you don’t go in with a plan you will spend way too much time in there.
Teachers are not allowed to wear jeans, short items, or things that are form fitting.
First things first lets start off with blouses. Try to narrow your options down by going with the basics, white, black, navy blue and gray. You can also throw in a color or pattern. Try to find at least 3-4 of these. Most of the blouses are short sleeves and have shoulder pads, which can be removed.
Next item are pants. Same rules can be applied. Find your basics. When buying pants at the thrift store you will most likely find pants that are dressier. They won’t have the option of slim fits. They mostly fit loose and most of them are high waisted. If you don’t like that style you could always wear your shirt un tucked.
All my items in the picture are thrifted except for my shoes and watch. I spent 6 dollars on everything else.
Until next time
