Over the past week technology hasn’t been my friend, AT ALL. I had to get my computer wiped and I went about a week without a phone.. Some of you may be thinking, “OMG, she went a week without a phone, how did she do it?” The same way I did it when I was nine years old, feel me?
Not having a phone was the best thing that has happened to me this month by far. It allowed me to reconnect with myself. Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter wasn’t holding me back. I wasn’t concerned about what the next person was doing because I could no longer judge myself based off of their actions. It allowed me to remember, that even though it is something we use to judge the next person, social media isn’t real.
Disconnecting allowed me to see how connected the world really is. Walking down the street no one holds their head up to see where they are going because they’re to connected to their phones. What’s on there that can’t wait, besides the obvious things like, maps and a phone call to your mother?
You don’t realize how connected you are to things until you have to go without. We are a spoiled generation. To cry when we crack our phone screens that will only cost us $100 to fix, while there is an area in Africa where women sell their children to workers for $50. Perspective
It’s great to be connected, but don’t become so connected that you forget how to connect with the real world..put it down.
Until Next Time
