Either you hate it or you love it. Thrifting can be kind of hard at times, so I’m here to bring you my thrifting tips and tricks.
Never go to the thrift store without a plan. You will easily get overwhelmed in a thrift store without one.
WEAR A STAPLE PIECE. Always wear an item that you favor the most when thrifting, like jeans. I always wear my favorite jeans and my most grabbed for shoe when thrifting. Doing this will ensure that I can pair my new items with some of my favorite staples. The thrift store does not have a return policy but just because its inexpensive, doesn’t mean you should just waste money. I’d rather be safe then sorry.
MAKE A PLAN. Like I said in rule number one, if you don’t have a plan you will be overwhelmed. During my latest shopping trip I made a plan to only shop for sweaters and oversized button downs. Even though most items are under five dollars, you still don’t want to over spend. Dollars add up quickly and enforcing your plan will help you save those extra dollars.
BRING A FRIEND. It’s always nice having another set of eyes that will not only keep a look out for themselves, but also look out for you. You may have missed that Chanel inspired fur vest if it wasn’t for them.
ELIMINATE. You’ve now found every treasure the thrift has to offer, trust me you won’t wear it all. Lay it all out and think to yourself, “Will I really wear this, or does it just look cool?”
TRY IT ON. There is nothing worse then finding a great piece at the thrift and realizing it doesn’t fit once you get home. It really makes the disappointment that much worse. At least while you are in the store the disappointment will go away the moment you find something better.
Don’t forget the knickknacks. After you’ve found some great pieces, its time to accessorize. I usually find my most unique items at the thrift. Whether it be a bag or Little Mermaid 2 on VHS, you will definitely find the item that describes you best.
You’re all set and ready to go! Enjoy your new finds 🙂
