HERE WE GO !
We are now in the single digit numbers for Charleston Fashion Week (chsfw)! I’ve already received emails asking what I will be wearing on a day to day basis, my makeup and hair routine for that week. What color will my nails be? How will I keep my phone charged? Most importantly, how will I keep up my healthy eating and sleeping habits during such a hectic week?
The world may never know …

So now here is the big question. What should I splurge on? S T A P LE S. That’s just my opinion. This doesn’t mean go out and buy that $3,000 bag. A decent bag is priced anywhere from $100-$300. Sometimes even I think that $300 is too much but it all depends on how bad you want it.
Items to splurge on (these items are my personal opinion):
Watch (this one can either be a splurge or a deal)
Nude shoes (flats, heels, etc.)
Black shoes (flats, heels, etc.)
Oversized sweaters and shirts in staple colors (neutrals)
Classic crew or V-neck in staple colors (neutrals)
Classic black jean and boyfriend jean (any style, i.e. skinny straight leg etc.)
Black or nude bag
So all of these items are things you can just throw on and make the perfect ” Oh I just threw this on” outfit. You could also add cardigans to this list. I don’t mention accessories because you can find some nice quality accessories at really great deals. Watches are a maybe because I personally only splurge about 30 dollars for my watches. I purchase all my watches from American E. and they all come with 5-year warranties. I see no point in spending $300 on a watch that you will eventually ram into a wall, knock the stones out or etc. I mean I guess you can say the same for everything else I have listed as well it just all depends on your definition of splurge.

TO SPLURGE OR NOT TO SPLURGE THAT IS THE QUESTION
This applies to everything, home decor, makeup, food, etc.
I always get questioned on my buying and spending habits. For those of you who know me personally know that I like nice things just like the next person but I always make sure I weight out my options. When it comes to things like bags, if I know that the bag will never be marked down more then 30% i.e. a bag from Tory Burch, I might buy it. It all depends on this. Will you carry 400 dollars worth of that bag or are you just buying it because its the “it” thing at them moment? That’s one thing that I try not to do, buy things just because everyone else has it.
It also comes down to what is important in your life. If you think spending $1,000 on a bag will get you somewhere in life then do it. It’s all about personal preference and what makes you happy. But don’t buy a $1,000 bag to prove that you can but it when you need to be spending that money on important things like books for school, bills, GAS etc. Save up for the bag that you want or set a goal for it. If I do well this semester I will treat myself to a new bag. You should do well every semester but this will be that little extra push you’ll need to keep going.
If you can’t wait for that or you are horrible at saving money try finding an inspired bag until you can save for the real thing. Most of the time the inspired bags look better then the real ones. Take the Celine Phantom for example. I believe that is a $2,000 bag but since its so popular everyone is making a dupe of it, so it’ll be easy to find.
Shopping at consignment shops is also another great option. You’ll be able to find the brand that you are looking for and you’ll get it for a steal. Everyone doesn’t have the mentality of saving for something that they want or waiting for it to be marked down. Lets face it, its a good habit to practice because that bag you just bought for $1000 could’ve went to your car payment and now your car is being repossessed, but GIRRRRRL at least you’ll look cute walking home with your new bag!
Do you get what I’m saying?

Did you miss me?
LONG STORY SHORT when I first created venitaaspen.com I didn’t know I should’ve created it using wordpress.org instead of wordpress.com. WordPress.org offers way more options then wordpress.com. Knowing that I could be using a better site while I was using my old one was not very motivating. So I just stopped blogging.
Instead of paying some one to do everything I figured it out myself and I had someone create this theme specifically for me. It’s clean, user friendly, and mobile friendly. I wanted my readers to take venitaaspen.com with them everywhere they went.
Before I stopped blogging I received a number of emails to do more fashion related post. So my first 4-5 post will mainly be about fashion! Also check out the links at the top to find out more about what I do! When it comes to Culinary Arts on my blog I will just post that in the lifestyle category instead of giving it its own page. I figured that would be easiest right now since I am not in the kitchen again until next semester. Most food post that I upload will be based off of “at home” cooking.
I will have post everyday at high noon!
With my new launch I hope to re capture all of my readers and gain some new ones!
