Belk Charity Event Blog Post I set a goal in the early middle of the pandemic to donate more to causes that matter to me. I would donate my time or money here and there before this decision, but it was never enough to make me feel like I was making a real impact.
When Belk reached out to me to ask them to help support this year’s Charity sale, I knew this would be the perfect project to help me kick off my new goal. The Belk’s Charity sale starts today, Oct. 9th.
Belk holds this event every year to ensure that they are doing their part to give back to the community. During this event, you purchase a $5 ticket, which allows you to receive $10 off of your purchase, including brands that don’t usually go on sale EVER! The proceeds from the $5 ticket that you purchase go directly to a local charity.
If you don’t have a Belk where you live, you can go to the Belk website, donate $5 to a charity on the list, and still receive your $10 off your online purchase! I was able to choose an organization that I hold close to my heart to give back too, Black Girls Code.
Black Girls Code is all about teaching other black girls that they can code too. The tech industry has always been seen as a white male-only industry. As someone who is sort of in tech by influencing and social media, I believe it is important to make sure everyone is represented equally in this field, so I chose to donate to Black Girls Code.
So do me a favor today, donate the money you’d use for your daily coffee today to Black Girls Code so that you can get $10 off of a Christmas present for someone that you love. Look at that. I’m helping you give back, save money AND make someone else happy all at the same time. Thank me later 😉
