In case you haven’t heard, Netflix has done it again. Emily in Paris is a new series on Netflix that became an instant hit in what felt like overnight. All I know is one day I knew nothing about this new show, and the next, I couldn’t even go on social media without seeing a slew of Emily in Paris into. So I decided it was my turn to give the show a try. Emily in Paris is all about a girl named Emily, played by Lily Collins, who moves to Paris with the job of bringing an American perspective to a Parisian marketing firm. But perhaps getting more attention than the storyline itself may actually be the fashion.

Throughout the show, Lily Collins has an amazing array of wardrobe changes. Her character dares to mix color and patterns in a way that I think many of us imagine dressing in our wildest Parisian dreams. I mean, who doesn’t dream of dressing like a fashion icon in the capital of fashion itself? Her outfits include everything from a black and white checkered skirt suit with a red beret to colorful patterned shirts and plaid minis. And hats. So many hats. Lily Collins’ looks on this show have been compared to the fashion in iconic shows such as Gossip Girl and Sex in the City. So who wouldn’t take a little inspo from such a fun series?

When Target approached me to be part of their Target Actually seasonal campaign, they asked me to come up with a look that could double as a Halloween costume. And who doesn’t love dressing up as their favorite character? Emily in Paris immediately jumped in my mind for this opportunity, and I knew if I wanted to use her looks as inspiration to play with A LOT of colors.
My outfit for the shoot consisted entirely of Wild Fable items I picked out from Target. I went with bright red tights and a blue skirt paired with a white cable knit sweater. I wanted to wear something that felt classic and preppy, but with a fun twist to match the fashion bravery, Emily has in Paris. And the perfect Parisian twist- a black hair bow that doubled as a bow on my shirt! Being brave with your wardrobe means taking chances and putting your own individual twist on everything you wear. I have to admit; I felt ready for a Parisian escape after pulling this look together. Not to mention, we found a VESPA on the street in Charleston. It looks like my Parisian dreams were meant to be.
