I’m not sure about you, but I was never an online browser or shopper. I’ve always preferred going into the store to try things on. Being able to feel the fabric, and so on, but in lieu of everything that is happening, I’ve found myself shopping online a WHOLE lot more. I thought it might be helpful if I shared some tips and tricks I use to try to ensure that I’m not returning the entire order I just placed, haha!
How To Online Shop
CHECK YOUR EMAIL FOR A COUPON CODE – even if it’ only 10% off, USE it because a dollar saved is happiness made.
SHOP BY CATEGORY – there is nothing more overwhelming than looking at fifteen things at once; that’s the easiest way to get burnt out while shopping online. Just like “reply all,” “shop all” is not your best friend.
SHOP BY SIZE – have you ever found the most fantastic piece just only to find out that it’s not in your size? That feeling hits worst than buyers’ remorse, I know. That’s why it’s so essential to shop for your size!
START WITH THE SALE SECTION – not only is this useful for online, but it’s also helpful for in-person shopping as well. I’m not one to spend a lot on clothing because I know it’s always going to go on sale at some point. Let’s be honest here; everyone loves a good deal, so start there to get the excitement going.
LIFESTYLE IMAGES ARE MORE IMPORTANT THAN ON WHITE IMAGERY– Out of everything that I have mentioned, I think this has to be the M O S T important. Images shot on white backgrounds can be manipulated in photoshop to allow for that perfect look, but that doesn’t translate the same for lifestyle imagery. Take your time to review the lifestyle images; it’s the closes visual you have of the item since you’re not in the store.
READ THE REVIEWS – but don’t let them discourage you. Sometimes people say mean things about a product or brand just because it didn’t work for them. Unless all the reviews are bad, if its something that you want, try it for yourself because you won’t know until you do that!
READ THE EXCHANGE + RETURN POLICY- I rarely ever shop somewhere where I can’t exchange an item. I think it’s a little silly, especially since those are usually the shops that don’t have brick and mortar stores, so there is no real way to know your size without trying it on! ALWAYS always always read the return policy. Sometimes tags still need to be attached, and the item unworn, etc.
I hope this was helpful! Who knew online shopping/shopping, in general, had so many steps, haha!
