I know it’s not technically spring yet but it’s never too early to get a head start on spring cleaning! I think that a cluttered space = a cluttered mind so it always feels like a fresh start to clean out or organize my space. I’ll be posting installments of a Spring Cleaning series over the next couple months and thought I’d start with a space in the home that can pretty much always use some improvement — the closet! I’ll be sharing a few of my best closet organizing tips and products in this post.
DIY headband organizer
If you’ve followed me a while, I’m sure you know I’m a headband addict! I own dozens of them. I have a little alcove in my closet so i bought a shower rod to place in that space and hang my headbands on! This bronze-gold one is so pretty.
Under-bed storage
If your closet is overflowing, try storing some of your out-of-season pieces somewhere else! Under the bed is great hidden place to move things to. Try these under-bed shoe organizers and these super shallow plastic bins for clothing storage.
Spice rack for displaying sunglasses
I love when storage is functional yet cute! Acrylic wall-mounted spice racks make the perfect tool to display all your cute sunglasses. Utilizing wall space is also one of the best things you can do when you’re short on storage space.
Command hooks, but make it cute
Another great way to utilize more wall space is hanging bags on hooks! Command hooks just aren’t cute though so I found an aesthetically pleasing alternative. These adhesive gold hooks are just $14 and the best part is you don’t have to worry about drilling them into the wall!
Utilize vertical space
If there is space between the top of your hanging clothes and ceiling, install some simple wall-mounted shelving and place wicker baskets on them to store less-used items. If there is space below your hanging clothes, put in a standing shelf or drawers.
Cohesive Hangers
One thing that may be causing your closet to look messy is having a dozen different types of hangers! Give the space a facelift by buying enough of the same type of hanger to rehang all of your clothes. I love these affordable, white, velvet-coated ones.
Drawer Organizers
Dresser drawers are so hard to keep tidy! Buying drawer organizers is a game-changer. These ones create different compartments for bigger pieces of clothing and these fit small things like socks and underwear.
